Kampala University Striker Gilbert Wannume Named Among Best Players of the Season
As the Pepsi University Football League ends, a list of the season's top-performing players has been released — and Kampala University’s star striker, Gilbert Wannume, has earned a well-deserved spot among the league’s best.
Wannume has stood out throughout the season with consistent and exceptional performances, ultimately emerging as the league's top scorer. He secured the Golden Boot with six goals, outpacing his closest competitor, Joseph Kayongo of Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), who was unable to find the net in the final match against St. Lawrence University (SLAU). Wannume’s achievement further cements his reputation as one of the most lethal forwards in university football.
The final list of top players includes:
- Hadat Musasizi (IUIU)
- Joseph Kayongo (UMU)
- Patrick Mutebi (UMU)
- Vicent Agaku (SLAU)
- Nicholas Jjonga (UMU)
- Emmanuel Shikanga (IUIU)
- Ronnie Ziraba (SLAU)
- Innocent Matege (SLAU)
- John Ssewankambo (Nkumba University)
- Ivan Agamire (UMU)
The Kampala University community proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to Gilbert Wannume for his outstanding contributions this season. We also recognise the entire team and the Sports Department for their great commitment and commendable effort.
