The Kampala University Vice-Chancellor Owek.Amb.Al-Haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga encouraged members of staff to embrace Systematization and Standardization in their academic operations during the General lecturers’ meeting held at Ggaba Campus on Friday 11th August 2023.
In an effort to realize the standardization and systematization agenda, there are several new arrangements in place that are geared towards achieving this line of action, numerous measures and tools were approved by Senate that are meant to guide all our current operations , we should make sure that we strictly follow them, Prof.Kateregga agued his lecturers. He further said that these were designed in the recently academic leaders retreat, they were agreed upon and finally approved by the Senate. This therefore serves to call upon all members from all Campuses to make use of them to the dot. The tools include but not limited to the standardized template for academic programs and timeline per faculty and Department, template for e-learning integration in teaching and habitually using of e-resources ,standardized template for the University Question Bank, standardized template for Quality Assurance processes for Campuses, Faculties, Departments, Student enrollment, registration, assessment and Graduation, standardized template for research integration in teaching, School Research and publication, template for course allocation and time table process all the way to senate, to mention but a few.
He thanked the University Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr.Wardah M Rajab Gyagenda for her exemplary leadership that has so far attracted several collaborations with various institutions and this has already began yielding positive results. Through the several collaborations, I have learnt that several trainings have taken place especially in areas of business and management studies, procurement and taxation, agriculture and agribusiness, health sciences and vaccinations, computer science and specifically Cyber security related areas. All these trainings have enabled our members acquire a wide scope of knowledge, competences and skills and also connected the University to other Universities and institutions of higher learning and research around the globe, VC whispered.
He thanked all lecturers individually and collectively for the great work they have done for the University throughout as the Institution is planning to celebrate the silver jubilee just next year.
In her submission, the DVCRII Dr. Wardah reminded members of staff to work hard for the realization of our University’s Mission, Vision and Objectives, “no more trying, we need to perfect”. Dr Wardah guided.
In their reactions, lecturers appreciated Management for organizing such fora where they can express their views and feelings about their university.
It is and has been Kampala University practice that always lecturers meet as a family to plan together, reflect on what has been done well and what has been not done very well to move forward together and work towards getting better performance and results.
