
Kampala University Yunus Social Business Centre Holds Double Project Management Workshop
Over last week, Our Yunus Social Business Centre, Partnering with Project Management Institute (PMI) - Uganda Chapter held its maiden Project Management, Social Business and Leadership Workshop under the Theme: "Project Management Skills for Social Sustainable Development", delving into the essentials for Project Planning & Management including Prof Yunus' Vision of 3Zeros, yet imparting Leadership Skills to Participants across our Ggaba and Luweero campuses.
In her remarks, while closing the Workshops, The Chief Guest, who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Kampala University in charge of Academics, Research, Innovation and Internationalization - Dr. Wardah Rajab M. - Gyagenda applauded the participants upon choosing to attend the impactful session. She promised to support such important workshops by lobbying from the University Management for the good of our Students more so during the Innovations Week to help transform well-thought-out Project ideas become reality.
Mr Katumba James, the VP of Social Impact at PMI & one of the Facilitators empathized with the need for Self-awareness using the Johari Window in identifying a beneficial Project, he also emphasized why Project Management Skills are important for Organizations and individuals to make impactful decisions before Ms. Nakiyingi Shakirah made her submission on the need for leadership in managing projects and Social Businesses.
The team leader at our KU-YSBC Mr. Olowo Augustine, on the other hand, appreciated the participants and facilitators for making time for the workshop before emphasizing the need for Innovators to move away from the traditional business planet and shift gears to the Social Business environment and create three Zero clubs at the different levels aimed at achieving a world with Zero carbon Emissions, Zero Poverty and Zero Unemployment by unleashing Entrepreneurship in all the Youth because if you can Imagine it, you can achieve it.
This workshop Series will now move to other Campuses of Kampala University, ie Jinja, Masaka and Mutundwe in preparation for the Innovation Week when the different Projects and business ideas will be pitched before an experienced Panel and the best idea will be funded to grow.
