Kampala University's Sister University in Rwanda Holds 5th Graduation Ceremony

East African University Rwanda (EAUR) a Sister University to Kampala University held its 5th Graduation Congregation at Nyagatare Stadium on the 30th day of 2024.

The University’s Chairman Board of Trustees who also doubles as the Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University Owek.Amb.Al-Haj Prof.Badru D.Kateregga appealed to Institutions of higher learning, to always stick to the provision of quality and relevant competence-based education, because staying attuned to the evolving demands of the global job market, the advancements in technology, and the pressing societal issues that our students will face calls a lot. He added that this requires continuous updating of our curricula to reflect current trends and future needs, incorporating interdisciplinary approaches, and fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By undertaking all this, we will be preparing our students to be adaptable, innovative, resourceful and capable of addressing real-world challenges, Prof.Kateregga emphasized.

He encouraged graduates to be bold, innovative, and unafraid to take risks. The path to success is often paved with challenges and uncertainties, but it is those who are willing to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the unknown who ultimately achieve greatness, Prof said. He also emphasised that in whatever they do or intend to, let them embrace the magic of thinking big, which is the true secret of success.

The University Chancellor Hon.Prof.George Mondo Kagonyera highlighted the need for the promotion of teaching science in Institutions of Higher learning and accentuated that investing in science education at the university level is a strategic imperative for any country aiming at achieving growth, technological leadership, and improved quality of life for its citizens. By fostering a robust scientific community, countries can better address current and future challenges, drive economic prosperity, and maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly complex world, Prof Kagonyera said.

He encouraged graduates to believe in their abilities, to hold steadfast to their aspirations, and to remember that success is measured not only by personal achievements but by the impact they make in the lives of others.

The Vice-Chancellor of East African University Rwanda Prof. Kabera  Callixte applauded the Government of Rwanda for the great work it does as far as strengthening global partnership, promoting research and innovation and having a robust Education System in the Country is concerned. He further emphasized that this will help in providing world-class education and fostering a knowledgeable, skilled, and innovative population. I am confident that with continued effort and investment, our education system will reach new heights of excellence, Prof Kabera said.

The function was officiated by Engineer Katabazi Pascal the advisor to the Minister of Education, and attracted high-profile dignitaries that include but were not limited to H.E Uganda's Ambassador to the Republic of Rwanda, H.E the Ambassador of Angola to Rwanda, Government Officials, a big delegation from Kampala University, the Governor of Nyagatare, mention.

371 Students were awarded Certificates, Diplomas and conferred Degrees.
