Kampala University Signs MoU with ICBA

To strengthen research and collaborations with credible and dependable organisations, on Monday 24th June 2024, Kampala University signed an MoU with the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) at Ggaba Campus. 

This marriage will help in the formulation and implementation of joint projects and programs focused on agricultural R&D and capacity development,  a joint application for project grants and consultancies in relevant technical areas, provision of internship and fellowship opportunities for KU students and graduates, creation of an ICBA Youth Engagement Society (ICBA YES) chapter at KU, development of programs for the empowerment of women working in the agricultural sector and enhancement of their research and leadership skills, collaboration in the ICBA-led Women Alliance for Climate Action in Agriculture (WACAA), Joint organisation of workshops, conferences, webinars, and other events related to agricultural R&D, Exchange of scientific materials, publications, and other relevant information to mention but a few.

ICBA is a research institute established under the laws of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) subject to certain exemptions, immunities and privileges granted by the Government of the UAE. 

ICBA's mission is to work in partnership to strengthen agricultural productivity in arid and saline environments by identifying, testing, and facilitating access to sustainable solutions for food, nutrition, and income security. Its establishment agreement was signed on 23 June 1996.

The Director General DR. TARIFA A. AL ZAABI, signed on behalf of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and Dr.Wardah Rajab .M. Gyagenda the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic, Research, Innovation and Internationalization signed on behalf of Kampala University.

Kampala University takes collaborations essential due to the fact that  they  play a role in tackling complex challenges, driving innovation, and maximizing collective impact across various fields and sectors.
