Dr. Nathan Wakhungu

Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences

Rev. Canon Dr. Nathan Wakhungu is a Ugandan academic, church leader, and community developer with extensive experience in education management, theology, and social sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Education Management from Kampala International University, multiple postgraduate and undergraduate qualifications in sociology, religious studies, and divinity, and is currently pursuing a post-doctoral degree in divinity with the United Graduate College and Seminary International (USA).

He serves as the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Kampala University, Chair of the Deans’ Forum, and Head of several departments, with specialization in curriculum development, academic administration, and postgraduate supervision. He has also served as Dean of the School of Education at Kayiwa International University and as a visiting lecturer at Uganda Christian University.

An ordained Anglican priest since 1991 and Canon since 2005, Dr. Wakhungu has held key pastoral and leadership positions, including Archdeacon of Naguru, Estates Manager of Kampala Diocese, and National Chaplain for Makerere University Medical School and Uganda Prisons. He is also the founder and director of St. Daniel Primary School and St. Levis Secondary School, serving children from nursery to A-level.

Dr. Wakhungu is an accomplished researcher and author, with publications on education, social behavior, religious studies, and community development, as well as several books on ethics, theology, and pastoral ministry. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to academic excellence, faith-based leadership, and community empowerment both in Uganda and internationally.
