Industrial Arts and Design
Overview
The School of Industrial Art and Design (SIAD) is one of the pioneering departments of Kampala University, established at the university's inception in 1999. It began as a social science department and evolved into a fully-fledged school under the name School of Industrial Art and Design when the university relocated to its Lake View main campus in Ggaba in 2001. The school's mission is to produce self-motivated professionals in the field of industrial art and design with entrepreneurial and pedagogical skills needed in the world of work. Our vision is to have the imagination and acumen to nurture creativity for lifelong learning. SIAD embraces core values of creative problem solving, appreciation of beauty, resilience, unity with nature, innovativeness, and originality. With three departments: Industrial and Fine Arts, Industrial Arts, and Art and Design with Education, the school offers certificate, diploma, and bachelor's programmes, and follows a blended teaching and learning approach (physical and online).
