Dr. Maboh Michel Nkwati

Dr. Maboh Michel Nkwati is an accomplished nurse scientist, higher education leader, and global health innovator currently serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University. With nearly two decades of experience, he has built a distinguished career spanning academia, research, and institutional development, marked by a sustained commitment to advancing evidence-based practice and strengthening health systems across Africa and beyond. He is also the Founder and President of the Health Research Foundation, established in 2007 to advance research capacity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the translation of scientific evidence into practice in Cameroon and globally. In addition, he serves as an Africa consultant for the World Continuing Education Alliance.

Dr. Maboh has held senior leadership positions that have significantly transformed academic institutions, notably as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Biaka University Institute of Buea and Director & Registrar of St. Francis Advanced School of Health Sciences. His leadership has driven strategic planning, institutional reforms, and rapid growth in student enrollment, alongside establishing governance structures, postgraduate programs, and quality assurance systems. He has also spearheaded international collaborations with institutions such as Drexel University and the University of Essex, positioning African institutions within global academic networks.

A respected researcher and educator, Dr. Maboh has contributed to major global health initiatives, including NIH-funded research on artificial intelligence in neonatal care and multi-country studies in maternal health, diabetes, and health professions education. He has taught across leading institutions, developed innovative academic programmes, including Cameroon’s first geriatric nursing programme, and played a key role in advancing simulation-based and digital learning. Widely recognized for his visionary leadership, he continues to champion inclusive education, research excellence, and health systems strengthening across Africa.
