Ggaba Main Campus | 7 October 2026

Kampala University’s Basoga Nseete Students Association has ushered in a new executive, with Nantale Rachael taking over the chairpersonship from Tenywa George at a ceremony marked by calls for unity, cultural pride and academic excellence.

Held on 7 October 2026 at the University’s Main Campus in Ggaba, the handover brought together association members and distinguished guests to witness the leadership transition and reaffirm their commitment to working together.

The Chief Guest, Owekitibwa Princess Nakaima Ruth, Education Minister in the Busoga Lukiiko, urged students to embrace togetherness and take pride in their cultural identity. She encouraged members to understand their heritage and remember where they come from as they pursue their education and future careers.

Princess Nakaima also emphasised the importance of studying hard, encouraging students to remain focused on academic excellence while actively participating in cultural and association activities.

The function was attended by Owek. Amb. Al-Haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University, and Ms. Rashida Kateregga, the Resident Director and Vice-Chairperson of the University’s Board of Trustees.

In his remarks, Prof. Kateregga thanked the association for its cooperation and encouraged members to strengthen the spirit of teamwork. He called on students to support one another and work closely with their new leaders, emphasising that the association’s progress depends on the collective contribution of its members.

Looking ahead to the University’s Cultural Gala, scheduled for 21–23 October 2026 at Mutundwe Campus, he urged the association to prepare thoroughly and practise diligently, setting their sights on winning this year’s competition.

The handover recognised the service of outgoing Chairperson Tenywa George while opening a new chapter under Nantale Rachael. Members were encouraged to support both leaders and ensure that the transition strengthens continuity, cooperation and participation within the association.

The ceremony reaffirmed the association’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, nurturing student leadership and promoting unity, with members encouraged to excel academically and proudly represent their culture within the Kampala University community.
