End of Year Message (2025) By Owek. Amb. AlHaj. Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, Founding Vice Chancellor, Kampala University
As we conclude the year 2025, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire Kampala University community—our students, staff, alumni, partners, and friends. Your loyalty, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the mission and vision of Kampala University have enabled us to complete yet another productive and transformative year.
I remain deeply grateful for your steadfast support, especially in moments when challenges demanded unity, sacrifice, and collective strength. I encourage all of us to carry this same spirit of excellence and determination into 2026 as we pursue even greater milestones.
This year has been marked by remarkable achievements that continue to elevate our institution. We successfully held the 22nd Graduation Ceremony, a vibrant celebration of academic excellence and a proud moment for our graduates and their families. On a personal note, I was humbled to receive the prestigious Africa Elephant Award in Madagascar for my contribution to scouting and youth mentorship—an honour that further enhances the global visibility of Kampala University. Additionally, the University received an international Trailblazer Award in recognition of our outstanding contribution to education and societal development.
Across all campuses, we registered significant infrastructural improvements that enriched our learning and working environments. Academic delivery remained strong across all programs, and we advanced curriculum reforms by embracing the CompetencyBased Curriculum to align our training with national and global demands for practical skills and demonstrable competencies. We strengthened our ICT systems, improving internet speeds and digital support to enhance blended learning, research, and administrative efficiency.
Our commitment to innovation was evident through the successful Hackathon at Ggaba Campus, which showcased the creativity and problem-solving abilities of our students. We also celebrated cultural diversity and national cohesion during the Cultural Gala at Luweero Campus. In sports, our students performed commendably in netball, woodball, and the university ball league—affirming our dedication to holistic student development and talent nurturing.
As we look ahead to 2026, I call upon all members of the Kampala University family to remain diligent, proactive, innovative, and professional in the execution of your duties. Let us continue to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and excellence as we position our University for even greater impact locally, regionally, and globally.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, University Council, and Management, I extend my sincere appreciation for your invaluable contributions throughout 2025. I wish you a restful endofyear break and a prosperous, productive, and blissful New Year 2026.
May God bless you and Kampala University.
ASSALAAM ALAIKUM WARAHMATULLAH WA BARAKATU.
