First Lady Donates 50Million to Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum As They Celebrate 25years of Existence

Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports has generously donated fifty Million shillings to the development of the Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum UVCF during the celebrations of the silver jubilee (25years) of historical existence and amazing service delivery by the Forum. The function that was graced by the State Minister for Higher Education Hon.John Chrysestom Muyingo who happily announced his boss’ kind contribution during his remarks at Kampala International University where the function was held, on the 5th day of October 2023.

Minister Muyingo said that Higher Education is a fundamental Key in individual and National development. He also said that the Forum is part of the teaching staff and plays a vital role in producing quality human resource for the market. He added that there is need to fund and give all the necessary support UVCF needs to become fully independent. The Forum has been a beacon of inspiration and has kept Universities on the right track of producing quality leaners as well as conducting research that has influenced economic growth and social development , Muyingo said.

The function was organized on the theme “The search for Equity and Inclusivity in Funding University Education in Uganda”.
Kampala University was represented by its Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic, Research , Innovation and Internationalization  Dr.Wardah M.Rajab Gyagenda.

After the morning session, entire team had to proceed to Shelton Hotel Kampala a cocktail to close day as a Family. UVCF was constituted in 1997. It was a dedicated group of Vice Chancellors and Heads of Institutions who felt that it was useful to have a united voice and share lessons on mutual concerns. UVCF enhances the sharing of knowledge, information and practices and advises Government on various policies on promoting University Education, it also publishes and carries out any other activity intended to promote Higher Education in Uganda.

The Forum members are the Vice Chancellors and Heads of Institutions of all the recognized Universities of Uganda. Representatives of the Ministry responsible for Education and the National Council for Higher Education are granted observer status. The Forum may grant observer status to any suitable person or relevant body.
