Kampala University Academic Staff Urged to Embrace Teamwork and Excellence as New Semester Begins
KAMPALA, UGANDA — 7 August 2026: Kampala University has called upon its academic staff to renew their commitment to hard work, teamwork and excellence as the University begins a new semester across its five campuses.
The call was made during a General Meeting for all lecturers held on 7 August 2026 to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the previous semester, identify areas for improvement and set priorities for the new semester, which officially commenced on 3 August 2026.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Maboh M Nkwatih, on behalf of the Founding Vice-Chancellor, Owek. Amb. Al-haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga.
In his address, Dr. Nkwatih welcomed the lecturers back from the holiday and appreciated them for their continued contribution to the growth and development of Kampala University. He urged academic staff to begin the new semester with renewed energy, commitment and a strong spirit of teamwork.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, urging lecturers to remain focused on their core responsibility of equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.
“Serious teaching should always be undertaken without relaxation so that we can build a better Kampala University for everyone. This is a people’s University, and public expectations are high. We should, therefore, aim higher,” Dr. Nkwatih said.
He further reminded staff that Kampala University is bigger than any individual and that its continued success depends on the collective efforts of management, academic and administrative staff, as well as the students.
He encouraged lecturers to plan effectively for the University, handle students and other stakeholders professionally, and consistently protect and promote the good image of Kampala University.
“This University is bigger than all of us, but together with our students, we make a significant contribution to its growth and success. We should work hard, plan for KU, serve our clients well, and uphold the University’s reputation under all circumstances,” he added.
The meeting was attended by the University Finance Consultant and General Duties in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Kamoga Ronald; University Administrator and Director of Protocol in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor Ms. Naila Florence; Academic Registrar, Mr. Hamza Ahmed Hamza; Director of Human Resource, Ms. Aidah Naisanga, Campus Directors among other University officials.
The University leadership reiterated the importance of collaboration, effective communication and teamwork as Kampala University continues to strengthen academic standards and provide quality education and services to its students.
The meeting therefore served as an important platform for staff to reflect, refocus and collectively prepare for a productive and successful new semester across all five Kampala University campuses.
