Kampala University Champions Compassion at Al-Salam Ramadan Charity Run
Kampala, Uganda — Kampala University has reiterated its assurance to community service and social responsibility by actively supporting and participating in the Al-Salam Ramadan Charity Run, held on 8 February 2026 at the Hockey Grounds of the National Council of Sports headquarters in Lugogo.
The charity run, organized by the Al-Salam Charity Foundation in partnership with several corporate and community organizations, aimed at raising funds to provide food and essential supplies to the less privileged ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan, now only days away.

The run was officially flagged off by Hajjati . Shania Kigozi, Country Director of One Ummah, while the Chief Guest was the General Secretary of the National Council of Sports, Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel.
Addressing participants at the event, Hajjati .Shania expressed heartfelt appreciation to all runners, sponsors, and partner organizations for their generous support. She encouraged Muslims and well-wishers to maximize good deeds during the approaching Holy Month by supporting the hungry, refugees, orphans, and other vulnerable groups with food, clothing, and shelter.

In a landmark announcement that drew widespread applause, Hajjati pledged 1,000 bursaries to underprivileged students joining university education, revealing that the beneficiaries would pursue their studies at Kampala University—a move hailed as a significant investment in education and youth empowerment.
Kampala University’s leadership was strongly represented at the event, led by the Resident Director and Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Rashidah Kateregga, alongside the University Administrator, Ms. Naila Florence .
The event also brought together a wide range of partners and sponsors, including Newmans, Ayman Investments UG LTD, CJ, Mihraab Travels, Trip Tonic Safaris, among others, all united by the spirit of giving and solidarity.
