Kampala University Congratulates Newly Elected Guild Leaders
KAMPALA, Uganda – Kampala University is pleased to congratulate all newly elected Guild leaders following the successful elections held on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Students from all five campuses of the university eagerly participated in the elections, with an impressive voter turnout and high spirits. The atmosphere was lively as expectations ran high across campuses, and security was tight to ensure a smooth voting process.
The voting commenced at 8:00 AM, and as the clock struck 5:00 PM, voting officially closed. Vote counting began immediately thereafter. In a landslide victory, H.E. Lubega Mubarak of Ggaba Main Campus triumphed in the Guild President race, securing 1,685 votes, 76% of the total vote. His opponent, Mr. Kasozi Kenneth, also from Ggaba Main Campus, received 523 votes, representing 24%.
In the race for Vice-Guild President, the following candidates emerged victorious:
- * H.E. Birungi Anatoli was elected Vice-Guild President for Luweero Campus.
- * H.E. Basubize Ibrahim won the Vice-Guild President seat for Jinja Campus.
- * H.E. Kyobe Christopher emerged unopposed for the Mutundwe
Campus position and so H.E. Kansime Jackson for Vice-Guild President, Masaka Campus.
The newly elected Guild leaders will serve a one-year term, contributing to the university's long-standing commitment to fostering student leadership as a key component of preparing future responsible leaders.
