Kampala University Honoured with Prestigious Trailblazer Award at African Academia Awards 2025

Joy and jubilations filled the air at M Hotel Kigali as Kampala University was celebrated with the Trailblazer Award for Accessible Higher Education Excellence during the esteemed African Academia Awards 2025.
This prestigious accolade, conferred by a distinguished continental jury, recognizes Kampala University’s assurance commitment to inclusive, affordable, and quality higher education across Africa. The rigorous selection process included peer nominations, institutional benchmarking, quantitative impact analysis, and final validation by the International Advisory Board of the African Academia Awards.
A Moment of Pride and Purpose
The award was received by Ms. Rashida Kateregga, Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Resident Director, accompanied by Mr. Muhammad Faquih Kateregga, Deputy Resident Director, on behalf of the founding Vice-Chancellor, Owek. Amb. Al-haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Ms. Rashida reaffirmed the University's mission: “This award aligns with our core mission to promote inclusive, quality education - an opportunity that should never be a privilege for a few.” She spotlighted Kampala University’s transformative initiatives: .Bursary schemes supporting hundreds of students annually. Scholarships for talented athletes and financially challenged learners Regionally unmatched tuition affordability, ensuring access for all “When we invest in people, we invest in the future - fostering innovation, leadership, and national transformation,” she added.
