Kampala University Hosts 25 German Professors

Today the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung Foundation led a delegation of 25 Professors from different Universities in the German Southwest to Kampala University in Uganda to forge a path forward on international academic cooperation and Student / Staff mobility through its programmes.

The contingent comprised of different dons representing a wide range of academic fields from urban planning and architecture to global health and ICT just to name a few, was received at Ggaba Campus at 9:00 am by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research, Innovation and Internationalization Dr.Wardah M. Rajab Gyagenda. 

On behalf of Kampala University and with great enthusiasm, she happily welcomed the team to Uganda and the University in particular.  She highlighted some areas of interest where the delegation can work in glove with Kampala University for the betterment of Students, Staff, communities and the two sisterly Countries at large which included but are not limited to; Nursing and Public Health, Natural Science and Agriculture, ICT, Digital related and online collaborations, Business, Education Programmes, Journalism and Mass Communication, Film Production, Scientific Research and Innovations, Scholarships, Industrial Art and Design, Quality Assurance, Dual Curriculum to mention but a few.

Since 2001, the foundation Baden-Württemberg Stiftung has been supporting the international exchange of students and young professionals by awarding the scholarship Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM. They are all part of a lively network. The scholarship enables both young people from Baden-Württemberg to spend some time abroad and foreign scholarship holders to get to know Baden-Württemberg. One of the sub-programmes BWS Plus that was designed specifically for universities from Baden-Württemberg. It is part of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for university students and supports new and innovative cooperative projects by universities worldwide.

On behalf of the delegation,  M/s Annegret Trettin from Baden- Wurttemberg Stiftung gGmbH Education Department expressed her gratitude to the Kampala University Management for the nice reception and hospitality witnessed and requested that whatever discussed deserve a follow-up for a better outcome from the cordial and noble relationship sealed today.

The able team also visited Kenya for the same esteemed cause a day before coming to Uganda.

Kirunda, the Director of the Graduate School Dr. Bosco J Binenwa, the Deputy Quality Assurance Manager Dr. Aisha Nayiga, the Public Relations Office Mr.Ssekatawa Julius, the Dean Of Students Mr. Mugalu Augustine, the different Deans that include, Dr. Wakhungu Nathan, Dr. Boniface Wanaku, Dr. Peninnah Beinomugisha, Dr. Twatwa Jermiah, Dr. Elizabeth Mukisa , HoDs, School Coordinators and lecturers.
