Kampala University Hosts Chinese Embassy Delegation to Boost Educational and Diplomatic Ties

Luweero, Uganda – October 17, 2025

Kampala University Luweero Campus proudly welcomed a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uganda as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and academic collaboration.

The delegation led by the Embassy Consul Mr. Andrew, together with Mr. Fan, Minister Counselor, Ms. Zhang, was warmly received by the Campus Director, Mrs. Sarah Batte, and the University Public Relations Officer Mr Ssekatawa Julius Abubakar. The delegation arrived at 10:00 a.m. and was formally received with a signing in the visitors’ book before proceeding to a strategic meeting with members of staff and student leaders in the boardroom.

Discussions centered on China-Uganda and China-Africa relations, with particular emphasis on China’s foreign policy, development cooperation, and educational partnerships. Mr. Andrew commended the deep-rooted historical friendship between Uganda and China, highlighting China’s remarkable progress in science, technology, and infrastructure development. He further noted China’s commitment to supporting developing nations through shared knowledge and investment.

In a gesture of goodwill, the Embassy donated a collection of Chinese literature to the Kampala University library to promote cultural and academic exchange. The delegation also expressed willingness to explore future collaborations with the university in areas such as scholarships, agriculture, and information and communication technology (ICT).

Mr. Andrew assured the university management of continued engagement, promising to maintain close contact with the Kampala University team to explore more areas of cooperation. Both staff and students who attended the meeting appreciated China’s significant contributions to Uganda’s development and reaffirmed the importance of fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

The visit concluded with a group photograph and a breakfast session, symbolizing a successful and forward-looking partnership. 

Kampala University management extended its sincere gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for the meaningful visit, describing it as a timely and inspiring beginning to a new chapter of China–Kampala University relations.
