Kampala University Installs New Rotaract Leadership as Ms.Rashida Kateregga Calls for Lasting Impact

Kampala University Resident Director and Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Rashidah Kateregga, has challenged the newly installed Rotaract Club leadership to deliver accountable leadership, strengthen community service and build initiatives that will endure beyond their term of office.

Addressing the installation ceremony on 26 September 2026, Ms.Rashida welcomed Lubyaayi Innocent as the incoming “Impact President,” succeeding Ms. Kigula Prisca Naluyima. The occasion brought together the Club Patron, staff, past presidents, alumni and members to witness the leadership handover and induction of new members.

Ms. Rashida described the transition as a renewal of the club’s commitment to service, leadership and character development. She urged the incoming cabinet to approach its responsibilities with humility, integrity, discipline and a clear sense of purpose.

She called on the new leaders to translate their ambitions into practical results by setting clear priorities, strengthening club management and ensuring that every project responds to an identifiable need. As ambassadors of Kampala University, she encouraged them to use their networks to promote the institution positively and establish productive partnerships.

A central message of her address was the need to build a lasting institutional legacy. Ms. Rashida urged the cabinet to document its programmes, maintain reliable records and establish a strong handover culture so that each successive leadership team can build on the achievements of its predecessors.

She also proposed a sustainable entrepreneurship and business-learning initiative to equip members with financial literacy, mentorship and opportunities for innovation. Such an initiative, she noted, would help prepare students for professional responsibilities and enterprise beyond university.

Founded and chartered in 2006 under inaugural President Kipsanga Maiyo, the Kampala University Rotaract Club has marked two decades of nurturing service and leadership within the university community. The club operates under District 9214, with Club ID 72694.

She commended outgoing President Kigula Prisca Naluyima and her cabinet for their commitment and contribution to the club’s growth. She also recognised the organising team for bringing the ceremony together and encouraged outgoing leaders to remain active as mentors to their successors.

The incoming team includes Nantale Recheal, Vice President; Atukunda Sonia, Secretary; Nalubega Sharon, Treasurer; Yiga Marvin, Sergeant at Arms; Mukisa Abigail, Club Administrator; Buyinza Moses, Club Advisor; and Kangume Elisa and Asiimwe Wilson, Membership Directors.

On behalf of University Management, Ms. Rashida extended appreciation to the Rotary Club of Ggaba for its continued mentorship and community service. She recognised its support for vulnerable children, disability-related initiatives, the Yamba Project in Kamwokya and advocacy during the COVID-19 period.

She paid special tribute to long-serving Club Patron Mr. Mugalu Augustine for more than ten years of financial support and consistent involvement, while thanking alumni for sustaining the club’s legacy.

She reminded members to balance fellowship and service with academic dedication, urging them to graduate successfully and grow into responsible professionals, entrepreneurs and nation-builders.

The ceremony ushered in a new chapter for Kampala University Rotaract, with a clear charge to its leadership: make service purposeful, leadership accountable and every member’s contribution count.
