Kampala University Participates in World Tourism Day Celebration in Hoima City
We are pleased to inform you that the Kampala University, specifically the Department of Leisure, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (LTHM), has joined hands with the global community in celebrating World Tourism Day, hosted this year in Hoima City, Uganda. The event, themed "Tourism and Green Investment," is a remarkable gathering of tourism enthusiasts and professionals from around the world.
We are delighted to share that this year's celebration witnessed the distinguished presence of the Right Honorable Nabanja, Minister of Tourism, as the Chief Guest of Honor. Alongside her, numerous eminent delegates and representatives from various sectors have graced the occasion.
One of the highlights of our participation was the grand parade around the beautiful Hoima City, which brought together over 52 schools and institutions. This colorful display of unity and celebration of tourism's impact on our environment was truly inspiring.
The Department of LTHM staff headed by Mr. Wiire Nicholas with other colleagues, Canon James Naboth Ahimbisibwe and Mr. Muhumuza F. Kabagambe together with students played an integral role in promoting the significance of sustainable tourism and green investments in our region. This event not only showcased our commitment to the tourism sector but also highlighted the strong academic foundation and practical expertise that the department offers.
We believe that our involvement in this global celebration aligns perfectly with our educational mission and goals, and it reinforces our dedication to nurturing the future leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry.
We extend our gratitude to Vice Chancellor, DVC, Director Finance and Marketing, Academic Registrar, PRO, Dean of Students Mr. Mugalu and all management and staff of KU for their full support in seeing this happen. In the spirit of World Tourism Day, we encourage everyone to continue advocating for sustainable tourism practices and responsible environmental stewardship, both in our academic pursuits and daily lives.
