Kampala University Shines at Inter-University Games in Mukono

Kampala University continues to showcase remarkable sporting talent at the ongoing Inter-University Games hosted by Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono. The highly competitive tournament has attracted several universities from across the country, with Kampala University emerging as one of the standout performers.

The university delegation, comprising 145 student-athletes and 25 officials, was officially flagged off on 17th December 2025 by the University’s Founding Vice-Chancellor, Owek. Amb. Al-Haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga, alongside university stakeholders (the Katereggas).

Since the commencement of the games, Kampala University has delivered an impressive performance across various disciplines, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals in several categories, including chess, karate, handball, volleyball, basketball and netball.

The university’s men’s and women’s netball teams have both advanced to the finals, while the men’s and women’s volleyball teams have also secured places in the finals. The handball team is through to the final stage, and the male football team has progressed to the semifinals, keeping hopes high as the competition continues.

These outstanding performances reflect the commitment, strategic preparation, and hard work of the Sports Department, dedicated coaches, and the firm support extended to the student-athletes by university management and well-wishers.

With the games still ongoing, optimism remains high that Kampala University will finish the tournament among the top overall performers.
