Kampala University Strengthens Bonds with Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom through Courteous Visit and Collaboration
Kampala, November 10, 2025 - Kampala University (KU) showcased its assurance to educational excellence and cultural promotion as it paid a courtesy visit to the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK) administration on Monday. The visit aimed to bolster ongoing collaborations in education, youth empowerment, and cultural preservation.
The university delegation included Mr. Ssekatawa Julius -Public Relations Officer, Mr. Munawa Rogers the Luweero Campus Administrator; Mr. Muhanuzi Geoffrey Assistant Dean of Students-Luweero Campus Mr. Mugalu Augustine, Dean of Students; and Mr. Sserunkuma Kitone Vincent, Marketing Coordinator. The team was graciously received by Omuny. Katusabe Alex Abooki, the Chief Administrative Secretary of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, representing Prime Minister Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi.

Expressing gratitude, Omuny. Abooki highlighted the Kingdom’s appreciation for Kampala University’s firm support through scholarship programs that have benefited over 200 Bunyoro-Kitara students. “We are thankful to Kampala University for providing educational opportunities that empower our people and foster community development,” he stated.
In his remarks, Mr. Ssekatawa Julius on behalf of the delegation conveyed the university’s appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated the importance of their partnership. “Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom is held in high regard because of the discipline and morals demonstrated by your students. Our partnership continues to blossom, fostering cultural unity and academic excellence,” he said.

He also announced the establishment of a cultural association called KUBUKISA, formed by Bunyoro-Kitara students at Kampala University, which aims to promote their cultural heritage, unity and identity. Additionally, the university revealed plans to expand scholarships for students from Bunyoro-Kitara and move towards formalizing the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Owek. Rukahemura Robert Akiiki, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Social Services Officer, commended Kampala University for prioritizing the welfare and advancement of Bunyoro-Kitara students. “These scholarships are transforming lives and empowering communities,” he affirmed.
The visit concluded with both parties reiterating their allegiance to strengthening cooperation in education, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment, paving the way for a brighter future for the people of Bunyoro-Kitara and Kampala University alike.
