Kampala University to Spread Its Wings to Malaysia in Landmark Global Collaboration

Kampala, Uganda – Friday, 13th September 2025 marked a historic milestone for Kampala University as it hosted a high-powered delegation from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), an entity under the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia. The visiting team, comprising Mr. Feldusi and Ms. Esther, was warmly received at the University’s main campus in Ggaba by the Founding Vice-Chancellor, Owek. Amb. Al-Haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga.

Education Malaysia Global Services plays a pivotal role in promoting Malaysia as a premier international education hub, making it an attractive destination for students worldwide.

The organisation also operates One-Stop Centres that support international students across public and private higher education institutions, language schools, and training centres.

Speaking during the visit, Ms. Esther commended Kampala University for its strides in providing quality higher education. “We are at Kampala University to foster collaborations, advance the internationalisation of higher education, and promote staff and student mobility. We are impressed with what Kampala University is doing, and that is why we are here to strengthen ties with this great institution,” she said.

In his remarks, Prof. Kateregga expressed deep gratitude to the EMGS delegation for choosing Kampala University as a partner for global collaboration. “This is a noble consideration, and we pledge to harness the best outcomes from this partnership, which will benefit our students, staff, and the larger academic community,” he affirmed.

The occasion was graced by several top University officials, including Mr. Mhammed Faquih Kateregga the Deputy Resident Director,  Dr. Wardah Rajab M. Gyagenda, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, Innovations, and Internationalisation),, Mr. Kamoga Ronald University Consultant for Finance and General Duties, Mr. Faisal Mubiru Sports Director, Ms. Naila Florence University Administrator, and Ms. Carol Achola, PA-VC/ HRM, the University’s Public Relations Officer Ssekatawa Julius Abubakar.

Adding a colorful touch to the day’s proceedings, the Sports Department unveiled Kampala University’s new away kit that will be donned by the University’s football team during future away games.

This engagement with EMGS signals the start of an exciting new chapter for Kampala University as it seeks to extend its academic and cultural footprint to Malaysia and beyond, in line with its mission of internationalisation and global academic excellence.
