Kampala University Triumphs at Rwanda's Inaugural Kwibuka Netball Championship

Kampala University has once again demonstrated its sporting excellence on the regional stage after being crowned champions of the inaugural Kwibuka Genocide Memorial Netball Tournament in Rwanda, following a series of commanding performances that saw the Ugandan side overwhelm hosts APR Netball Club 74–14 before sealing the title with a resounding 81–8 victory over Kigali Netball Club at the Kanombe Military Police Netball Ground.

The prestigious tournament, organised by the Rwanda Netball Federation in collaboration with the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee and the Ministry of Sport, was held in honour of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Speaking after lifting the trophy, Head Coach Jesse Asimwe described the victory as both a sporting triumph and a valuable learning experience for the team, expressing gratitude to the organisers for the invitation.

The victorious squad was led by Deputy Resident Mr. Faquih Muhammed Kateregga and Sports Director Mr. Faizal Mubiru before returning to Uganda, where Team Manager Dr. Sarah Nkonge Muwonge officially presented the championship trophy to Kampala University's Founding Vice Chancellor, Owek. Amb. Al-Haj Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, at the University's Main Campus in Ggaba, marking yet another milestone in the institution's growing legacy of sporting excellence.
