Kampala University Triumphs Over Gulu University in Pepsi University Football League
In a thrilling encounter at the Yes Center Sports Arena in Nsambya, Kampala University secured a 3-2 victory over Gulu University in the Pepsi University Football League. The match was an exciting display of skill and determination, with both teams competing fiercely. Kampala University was in top form, leading the control of the game and ultimately securing the win. The game, which saw intense action on both sides, kept the crowd in their seats until the final whistle.
The match was graced by the presence of Kampala University's founding Vice-Chancellor, Owek Amb. Al-haj Prof. Badru D. Kateregga, a well-known sports advocate. Prof. Kateregga, who was accompanied by the Kampala University stakeholders (the Katereggas), congratulated the players for their remarkable performance and encouraged them to stay focused on continuous improvement. "Kampala University is a sports giant," he said, urging the team to train more for the coming games, be disciplined, work harder, and always aim to raise the university’s flag. He further added, "Imagine if you had lost this game in my presence," emphasising the importance of victory and hard work in upholding the university’s prestigious sporting reputation.
In his speech, Prof. Kateregga also expressed gratitude to the sports department and Coach Tumusiime Vicent, affectionately known as Manager Titi, for their dedication and leadership of the team.
The victory inspired Kampala University to the summit of Group D with nine points, three off Bugema University. Gulu University stays on four points, and Kampala International University (KIU) is in the fourth position with one point.
