Kampala University Welcomes New Students with Comprehensive Orientation Across All Five Campuses
KAMPALA, UGANDA: Kampala University has ushered in the new semester with a comprehensive orientation programme for newly admitted students, equipping them with essential knowledge, skills and guidance to successfully navigate university life.
The orientation programme, which ran from 3rd to 7th August 2026, was conducted across all five Kampala University campuses—Ggaba Main Campus, Luweero Campus, Masaka Campus, Jinja Campus, and the Kampala University School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Mutundwe.
The programme provided an important platform for freshmen to familiarise themselves with the University's academic, administrative and social environment while understanding their responsibilities as members of the Kampala University community.
Among the key areas covered was the history, vision and mission of Kampala University, giving students a deeper understanding of the institution's foundation, values and aspirations. Students were also guided on accommodation and how to effectively deal with roommates, an important aspect of adjusting to university life.
The orientation further addressed critical social and safety concerns commonly associated with tertiary institutions. Students were sensitized on overcoming vices such as cultism and sexual violence, as well as computer fraud and essential security tips, reinforcing the University's commitment to providing a safe, secure and conducive learning environment.
Other sessions focused on the fresher's life as an exciting and adventurous journey, encouraging students to embrace university life responsibly while making positive choices that contribute to their personal and academic growth.
On the academic front, students were taken through examination rules and regulations, the Electronic Registration and Payment (ERP) system, online registration procedures, and other essential academic processes. They were also introduced to students' leadership and the role of the Students' Guild Council, emphasizing that student leaders are available to serve and represent the interests of the student community.
The orientation also highlighted the Kampala University Students' Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance practices and the importance of discipline, integrity and active participation in ensuring a successful academic journey.
A key feature of the programme was the interactive question-and-answer sessions, which gave new students an opportunity to seek clarification on various academic, administrative and social issues. The sessions enabled students to engage directly with members of staff and student leaders, creating an open and supportive environment for their transition into university life.
The orientation sessions were facilitated by members of staff in collaboration with the Students' Guild Council, demonstrating the University's collective commitment to ensuring that every new student begins their academic journey well-informed, confident and prepared.
