Kampala University’s Martha Soigi Elected AUUS First Vice President
Kampala University Sports Tutor, Ms. Martha Soigi, has been elected the First Vice President of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS), deputizing Mr. George Wagoogo, the Sports Tutor of Kyambogo University.
The election took place at Uganda Christian University (UCU), where Deans of Students and Sports Tutors from various universities across the country turned up in large numbers to vote for the new AUUS executive committee.
Ms. Soigi garnered an impressive 61 votes, defeating her closest rival, Mr. Mustapha, who managed 24 votes. Her victory has been widely celebrated, particularly by the Kampala University fraternity, which praised her exceptional contribution to sports development both within the institution and at the national level.

Other elected members of the AUUS executive include Mr. Samuel Lukaire of UCU as Vice President (Technical), Mr. Patrick Ssebuliba of Victoria University as General Secretary, Ms. Brenda Ekon of the University of Kisubi as Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Brian Miiro of Makerere University as Treasurer, and Mr. Ambrose Kalibbala of Muteesa I Royal University as the Student Representative.
The management of Kampala University congratulated Ms. Soigi upon her victory, describing her as “a lady of valor” whose enthusiasm, leadership, and passion for sports have greatly elevated the university’s image in inter-university competitions and national sporting initiatives.
In her new role, Ms. Soigi is expected to work closely with other AUUS executives to strengthen university sports programs across Uganda, promote student participation, and enhance the visibility and competitiveness of university athletics nationwide.
