Nakabugo Leontinah Elected Kampala University’s 24th Guild President
Students of Kampala University on 17th May 2026 turned up in large numbers to elect their student leaders during the highly anticipated Guild Elections conducted across the University’s five campuses namely Ggaba Main Campus, Luweero Campus, Jinja Campus, Masaka Campus and Mutundwe Campus.
The elections attracted significant enthusiasm and participation from the student community as candidates campaigned vigorously for various leadership positions. The Guild Presidential race was closely contested between Mr. Mujuni Johnson and Ms. Nakabugo Leontinah.
After the conclusion of voting and tallying of results from all campuses, H.E. Nakabugo Leontinah emerged victorious and was officially declared the Guild President-Elect of Kampala University by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Ahairwe Gumisiriza. By winning the election, she becomes the 24th Guild President of Kampala University.
According to the final results released by the Electoral Commission, students voted as follows:
Ggaba Main Campus
- Mujuni Johnson – 245 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 89 votes
Luweero Campus
- Mujuni Johnson – 181 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 173 votes
Masaka Campus
- Mujuni Johnson – 154 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 375 votes
Mutundwe Campus
- Mujuni Johnson – 206 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 587 votes
Jinja Campus
- Mujuni Johnson – 150 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 530 votes
The total valid votes cast in the Guild Presidential election were:
- Mujuni Johnson – 936 votes
- Nakabugo Leontinah – 1,754 votes
Nakabugo Leontinah secured a commanding victory after obtaining the highest number of votes across the University campuses.
In other Guild leadership races, the following students were elected as Vice Guild Presidents at their respective campuses:
- H.E. Turyahebwa Paul – Masaka Campus
- H.E. Ssabiti Gilbert – Mutundwe Campus
- H.E. Ngobi Francis – Jinja Campus
- H.E. Atuha Mulumba – Luweero Campus
