NCHE Team Lauds Kampala University Jinja Campus During Accreditation Visit
Jinja – Tuesday-5th –August 2025 marked a notable breakthrough for Kampala University’s Jinja-based Campus as a high-level delegation from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) visited the institution for accreditation purposes. The visit, which forms part of NCHE’s mandate to assess and ensure quality in Higher Education Institutions across Uganda, turned into a moment of pride for the university as the visiting team expressed deep appreciation for the standards and facilities in place.
The NCHE delegation was warmly received by Owek. Amb. Al-haj Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University, and guided them through the various facilities. The delegation’s tour included inspections of academic structures, administrative offices, lecture halls, laboratories, and other critical infrastructure that support both academic and co-curricular excellence.
From the onset, the visiting team was impressed by what they encountered. They praised the quality of the university’s infrastructure, the well-maintained facilities, the professionalism of the staff, the robust internal control systems, and the availability of adequate transport resources.
In their remarks, NCHE officials commended the university leadership for its visionary and strategic management, noting that such governance plays a pivotal role in ensuring quality education. They encouraged Kampala University to maintain and even surpass these standards, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement to meet both National and International benchmarks in higher education.
“We are extremely impressed with what we have seen here today. The quality, the organization, and the level of preparedness are remarkable, NCHE representatives noted during the debrief session.
The visit also drew the presence of key stakeholders of the university, underscoring the importance of the event. Among those in attendance were Ms. Rashidah Kateregga the University Resident Director/Vice-Chairperson B.O.T , Mr.Faquih Muhamed Kateregga the Deputy Resident Director, Mr.Faisal Mubiru , the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research, Innovations, and Internationalization Dr. Wardah M. Rajab Gyagenda, Mr.Kamoga Ronald Consultant in charge of Finance and general duties office of the Vice-Chancellor, University Administrator Ms.Florence Naila, University HRM and PA-VC Ms.Carol Achola, Consultant in charge of operations Mr.Sharkool Wahab , the University lawyer Counsel Muhammed Ssebandeke , the Jinja Campus Director, and members of the academic and administrative staff.
Prof. Kateregga, in his address to the NCHE team, expressed gratitude for the Council’s role in upholding academic quality in the country. He reaffirmed Kampala University’s assurance to delivering education that meets and exceeds NCHE’s expectations.
