Overview

The Bachelor of Agriculture and Community Development programme provides opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and skills in both agriculture and community development. The programme targets holders of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent, or a diploma in an agriculture-related discipline.

Objectives

  • Equip students with knowledge and understanding of factors affecting agricultural production and community development.
  • Train students in decision-making, data collection, and interpretation of scientific data.
  • Impart an understanding of innovation, ethics, and current issues in agricultural systems and community development.
  • Provide knowledge and skills required in agricultural extension and community development.
  • Develop leadership skills for mobilizing communities for development activities.

Philosophy

The programme is based on the belief that integrating agriculture with community development can foster socio-economic transformation, food security, and sustainable livelihoods.

Entry Requirements

Direct Entry: Two principal passes in Agriculture and Biology at UACE.

Diploma Entry: A second-class Diploma in Agriculture or a related field.

Mature Age Entry: Pass in the Mature Age entry examination.

Higher Education Certificate (HEC) Entry: Candidates must have passed a relevant HEC accredited by NCHE with a distinction or credit.
