Overview

The Diploma in Agriculture and Community Development provides students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills in both agricultural production and community development. The programme is designed to contribute to socio-economic transformation through agricultural innovation, sustainability, and rural development.

Objectives

  • To equip students with knowledge and understanding of factors that interact in agricultural production systems and community development.
  • To train students to acquire skills in decision-making, data collection, and management techniques used in sustainable agriculture.
  • To impart an understanding of innovation, ethics, and current issues in agricultural systems.
  • To train students in agricultural extension services and mobilization of communities for sustainable development.
  • To equip students with leadership skills necessary for community mobilization and development.

Entry Requirements

  • Direct Entry: The candidate must have a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least one principal pass at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in Agriculture or Biology.
  • Certificate Entry: A recognized certificate in Agriculture or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Mature Age Entry: Candidates must be at least 22 years old and have passed a mature age examination from an NCHE-recognized center.
