Overview

The Diploma in Integrated Science (DISC) is a three-year in-service programme designed for GIII Primary school teachers who are upgrading to attain a Diploma in Primary Education. The programme integrates physical and biological sciences, with a focus on hands-on learning, problem-solving, and community-based applications.

Objectives

  • To train graduate professionals in the field of Integrated Sciences.
  • To equip students with broad and deep academic and professional knowledge in Integrated Sciences.
  • To develop pedagogical skills and the ability to apply them in teaching science.
  • To enhance creativity and innovation in using the environment for learning.
  • To strengthen research skills by enabling students to identify and analyze scientific problems.

Entry Requirements

  • Direct Entry: Applicants must hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least two principal passes in science subjects.
  • Diploma Entry: Grade III primary school teachers with relevant teaching experience.
  • Mature Age Entry: Candidates must be at least 25 years old and have passed a mature age examination from an NCHE-recognized center.
