The Diploma in Public Health is a science-based programme designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in public health practice, epidemiology, disease prevention, and health promotion. It includes classroom-based coursework and community-based fieldwork to provide hands-on learning experiences.
Objectives
- To prepare public health practitioners to work within an integrated multi-sectoral system.
- To equip learners with leadership, training, and management skills to act as change agents in public health practice.
- To strengthen capacity for conducting public health research.
- To train students to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate public health programs and services at local, regional, and global levels.
- To provide students with basic communication and entrepreneurial skills for public health practice.
Philosophy

Entry Requirements
- Direct Entry: At least two principal passes at A’ Level in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, and at least five passes at O’ Level.
- Certificate Entry: A professional certificate in Nursing, Midwifery, Lab Technology, Dental Assistance, or other health-related fields.
- Mature Age Entry: Candidates must be at least 22 years old and have passed a mature age examination from an NCHE-recognized center.
- Higher Education Certificate (HEC): A relevant HEC accredited by NCHE with a distinction or credit.
