Secretarial Studies
The Department teaches Secretarial of Administrative and Secretarial Studies and the program is intended to produce graduates who can out rightly find employment as typists, pool stenographers, receptionists and office assistants
Based on the training provided a person who later assumes a position of a Typist will perform the following duties; managing the filing system, producing office documents as well as maintenance of office tools and equipment.
Apart from taking on the same roles as a typist, a pool stenographer can also organize meetings; record minutes and supervise office attendants.
On one hand, receptionists are expected to; receive and direct visitors, maintain visitors’ register, manage phone calls, maintain a front office, distribute and sell handbooks published by the organization, receives and control the circulation of magazines and newspaper, sets office layout, organizes meetings, prepares work schedules and at times makes appointments for staff.
On the other hand, office assistants can perform a range of duties including; management of office mail, organization of refreshments, filing, photocopying documents as well as dissemination of information.
Important to note also is that the CASS programme will provide learners with a firm foundation for academic progression in the same career.
One can be in a position to enrol for a Diploma Programme in Administrative and Secretarial Studies upon completion.
