Kampala, Uganda | June 26, 2026 – Kampala University has welcomed yet another high-ranking delegation from the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, reaffirming the growing strategic partnership between the two institutions in advancing higher education, professional development, and regional integration within the East African Community.
The courtesy visit by Hon. Rajab Uweje Yakoub, Director of Administration and Human Resource at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, to the University's Ggaba Main Campus comes barely two weeks after the visit of Hon. Idrissa Kitwana Mustafa on 10th June 2026, underscoring Zanzibar's continued confidence in Kampala University as a preferred destination for quality higher education.

Receiving the delegation, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University, Owek. Amb. Al-Haj Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, described the visit as a strong affirmation of the enduring partnership between the University and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, particularly in promoting human capital development through accessible and quality education.
Prof. Kateregga expressed profound appreciation for the Zanzibar Government's continued sponsorship of students at Kampala University, noting that the investment has produced distinguished leaders who are now making significant contributions to public service. He cited Hon. Masache Njelu Kasaka, Member of Parliament for Lupa Constituency in Mbeya Region, and Hon. Asya Mwadin Mohamed, Member of Parliament for the Women Special Seat, as shining examples of the University's successful alumni whose leadership reflects the impact of the long-standing collaboration.
Highlighting Kampala University's commitment to academic excellence, the VC reiterated the institution's resolve to continuously align its academic programmes with regional and global demands. He announced that the University will fully implement competence-based curricula beginning in February 2027 while expanding opportunities in high-demand disciplines, including Public Administration, Nursing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business, and Film Production.

The Founding Vice-Chancellor further applauded the continued success of the Tanzania Holiday In-Service Programme, which has enabled thousands of Tanzanian professionals to pursue higher education through flexible and affordable learning arrangements without interrupting their careers.
Providing an overview of the institution, Prof. Kateregga noted that Kampala University has, over the past 27 years, established itself as one of the region's leading private chartered universities. The University currently operates five campuses across Uganda and is supported by two sister institutions—The East African University in Nairobi, Kenya, and The East African University Rwanda—collectively advancing higher education, research, innovation, and regional integration throughout East Africa.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Resident Director, Mr. Faquih Muhammed Kateregga; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mabol Michael Nkwati; Finance Consultant, Mr. Ronald Kamoga; the University Administrator and Director of Protocol, Ms. Naila Florence; Marketing Coordinator for Tanzania, Mr. Ali; Members of Parliament Hon.
