Kampala University Strengthens Partnership with Lango Cultural Institution to Advance Higher Education

Ggaba, Kampala – June 3, 2026

Kampala University has reaffirmed its assurances to expanding access to quality higher education through strategic partnerships after hosting a high-level delegation from Won Nyaci Me Lango (Lango Cultural Institution) on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in the education sector.

The delegation, led by officials from the Education Department under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Lango Cultural Institution, was received at Kampala University's Main Campus in Ggaba at 9:00 a.m. by the University's Resident Director and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the BDK Universities Network International, Ms. Rashida Kateregga.

The visiting delegation comprised Mr. Ongol Tego R.S, Deputy Minister of the Lango Cultural Institution; Mr. Angolli George, Officer in Charge of Bursaries and Scholarships; and Mr. Ogwang George Opota, Officer in Charge of Sports.

Speaking during the meeting, Ms. Rashida expressed Kampala University's readiness to deepen its collaboration with the Lango Cultural Institution, particularly in supporting students referred by Won-nyaci me Lango to pursue higher education.

Kampala University remains committed to working closely with the Lango Cultural Institution in empowering young people through education.

She added that our university embraces all cultures, religions, and backgrounds, making it a home for everyone. This is reflected in the significant number of students from the Lango sub-region who have chosen Kampala University as their institution of higher learning," she said.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Maboh Michel Nkwati, commended the delegation for choosing Kampala University as a strategic partner in advancing educational opportunities for the people of Lango. He also highlighted the university's vision for expansion and noted that establishing a Kampala University campus in the Lango region would be a welcome development in the future.

The delegation from the Lango Cultural Institution applauded Kampala University for its excellence in academic service delivery and its continued contribution to higher education in Uganda. The officials pledged to strengthen the existing relationship between the two institutions and revealed that they have come with 14 files of  prospective students to Kampala University for admission into various academic programmes.

The delegation further expressed confidence in the university's ability to provide quality education, citing the growing number of students from the Lango region who continue to choose Kampala University for their studies.

The meeting was also attended by several Kampala University officials, including Ms. Naila Florence, University Administrator and Director of Protocol to the Vice-Chancellor;  Ms. Sarah Nassanga Batte, Director of Luweero Campus; Mr. Munawa Rogers, Campus Administrator  Luweero Campus; Mr. Ssekatawa Julius Abubakar, Public Relations Officer; Mr. Latigo Peter, Marketing Coordinator for Northern Uganda; Mr. Kayondo Mathius, Assistant Quality Assurance Officer, Luweero Campus; and Mr. Kinamunda Awali, Marketing Coordinator for the Central Region.

Following the productive engagement at the Ggaba Main Campus, the delegation toured Kampala University's Mutundwe Campus before concluding their visit at the Luweero Campus.

The visit marks another important milestone in Kampala University's efforts to build strong partnerships with cultural institutions and stakeholders across Uganda in pursuit of inclusive, accessible, and quality higher education for all.
